A moment if I may to discuss a subject that I have been seeing making the gossip rounds lately.  Folks are reporting that Lea Michele is a diva and I don't think they truely understand the word or the actions behind it.

I want to start out by saying that I have been around stage actors and actresses my entire life, both as one and on the "stage crew" side.  Any good actor is going to come across as a diva to those that are not familer with the stage and the craft.  You have to understand that this person has given so much emotion and time into exactly how they want the character they are playing to come off.  They know how to get it done and nothing will stop them from it, so sometimes they will seem aloof or "above" those that don't understand.

The other thing I think people don't understand is that Lea is a stage actress first and foremost, and even though she has been on the stage since the age of 6 broadway and New York is a totaly different animal then Hollywood and LA.  Most actors and actresses in New York are afforded a certain anonimity (it is why a huge icon like JFK jr. loved New York so much).  Sure there are the occasional autograph requests here and there, but for the most part a "celeb" can get through a meal with out being bugged every 5 minutes.  Hollywood on the other hand is a semingly endless succession of interruptions by people who's only goal in life seems to be meeting celebs.  This is something new to Lea and I'm sure once she gets used to it she will become a lot better at it.

The last thing I wanted to touch on was how I think people have misinterpreted Lea Michele's sense of humor.  All the reports I've seen and stories I've heard seem to indicate that she has a pretty wicked, and at times bitting sense of humor.  Most people interpret this as diva or stuck up when in all reality it is simply someone trying to be funny and cute.
